About Our Training Facilities
The International Safety Training Council is an educational organization dedicated to providing the highest quality of services to our customers, clients, and employees.
ISTC has been in business for 24 years, serving the petrochemical, refining, offshore, marine, pipeline, and energy facilities in not only Southeast Texas, but nationally as well, providing excellence in training and other services in order to promote a safe and secure work environment and community. It is not only our mission, it is our passion. As an association, ISTC has grown over the last 24 years, accepted new roles and responsibilities, expanded services, benefits and locations for our client facilities and contract companies in order to meet the growing safety, health, environmental, and security needs of the community, state, and nation as a whole.

Specialized Training

American Heart Association First Aid/CPR with AED (4hr)
OSHA 1910.151
This class will prepare the student to assess patients and perform lifesaving skills in the event of an emergency such as Heart Attack, disaster, accident or other life threatening events; two year certification.

Beaumont Cost: $115.00/student, with a minimum of 6 students and a maximum of 12 students per instructor
Baytown Cost: $130.00/student, with a minimum of 8 students
Construction Safety OSHA (10 hr)
This program is intended to provide construction workers information to identify, abate, avoid, and prevent job related hazards on a construction site. The course covers a variety of construction safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a construction site.
10 hour course
Cost: Minimum of 4 - $100.00/student
Construction Safety OSHA (30 hr)
The program is intended to provide a variety of training to workers with some safety responsibility. Training will emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention.
30 hour course

Excavation and Trenching Competent Person
Course focuses on OSHA standards and on the safety aspects of excavation and trenching. The following topics are included: Types of shoring, OSHA standards on excavation and trenching, Soil mechanics, and Testing methods.

Fall Protection Competent Person
Course gives an overview of requirements under 29CFR1926 subpart M which covers fall protection. This course is for workers and competent person certification.

General Industry Safety OSHA (10 hr)
This program is intended to provide general industry workers with information about how to identity, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards on a job site. The training covers a variety of general industry safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter.
10 hour course

HAZWOPER (24hr)
This course is designed for the emergency responder who responds to hazardous materials spills or releases for purposes of assessing and stabilizing the emergency situation (e.g.: HAZMAT first responders). This course is also required for those who work on hazardous waste clean-up sites or storage, treatment, and/or disposal sites who only occasionally for a specific limited task and who are unlikely to be exposed over permissible exposure limits and published limits (1910.120(e)(3)(iii)).

HAZWOPER (40hr)
40 hour course
The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) applies to five distinct groups of employers and their employees. This includes any employees who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances-- including hazardous waste--and who are engaged in one of the following operations as specified by 1910.120(a)(1)(i-v) and 1926.65(a)(1)(i-v):
  • Clean-up operations--required by a governmental body, whether federal, state, local, or other involving hazardous substances-- that are conducted at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites;
  • Corrective actions involving clean-up operations at sites covered by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 (RCRA) as amended (42 U.S.C. 6901 et seq.);
  • Voluntary clean-up operations at sites recognized by federal, state, local, or other governmental body as uncontrolled hazardous waste sites;
  • Operations involving hazardous wastes that are conducted at treatment, storage, and disposal facilities regulated by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Parts 264 and 265 pursuant to RCRA, or by agencies under agreement with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to implement RCRA regulations; and
  • Emergency response operations for releases of, or substantial threats of release of, hazardous substances regardless of the location of the hazard.

Baytown Cost: $690.00/student, with a minimum of 8 students
HAZWOPER Refresher (8hr)
This course requires that students have first, successfully completed either the 24 or 40-Hour HAZWOPER and have maintained certification through annual refresher training. If certification has not been kept current under OSHA guidelines (each successive year after completing the initial 24 or 40 Hour HAZWOPER), the 24 or 40 Hour HAZWOPER must be re-taken prior to registering for this course.

Scaffold Competent Person
This course gives and overview of requirements outlined in OSHA 29CFR1926 subpart L and 1926.451 General Requirements. Program covers general requirements, types and application of scaffolding, planking, ties and scaffold inspection.

The 10 Hour Construction Industry training program is intended to increase construction worker’s general awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards on a construction site. This training will be conducted in Spanish by a bi-lingual instructor. Cost: Minimum of 4 - $100.00/student
