This course is a Hazardous Waste General Site Worker Annual Refresher training program.
This course is to train General Site Workers in accordance with 29CFR 1910.120(e)(8)Hazardous Waste Operations. – “Refresher training. Employees specified in paragraph (e)(1) of this section, and managers and supervisors specified in paragraph (e)(4) of this section, shall receive eight hours of refresher training annually on the items specified in paragraph (e)(2) and/or (e)(4) of this section, any critique of incidents that have occurred in the past year that can serve as training examples of related work, and other relevant topics.”
This course consists of lectures, classroom demonstrations and presentations.
Scope, definitions, safety and health hazards, safety and health program, training, medical surveillance, employee protection, monitoring, drums and containers, decontamination, emergency response, illumination and sanitation.
Hands-On Student Activities:
Various equipment and PPE will be available for display purposes to students.
Personnel needing to obtain refresher training for the 40 and 24 hour HAZWOPER Training.

All 8-Hour HAZWOPER courses require a copy of the most current certificate of HAZWOPER training that is valid within 1 year with registration.
All courses are conducted at the Beaumont Emergency Services Training Complex (BEST Complex) located in Beaumont, Texas. The facility is designed to offer training for emergency services.
For the safety of our students and instructors, and for an uninterrupted course structure, guidelines have been set for course participation. Inability to meet prerequisites set by BEST Complex may result in incomplete training and therefore render participant ineligible to receive course Certificate of Completion.
Physical Condition of Student:
All students must arrive for training free of any condition, physical or other that would prevent them from actively participating in all course activities. Due to the strenuous work requirements in some areas, we strongly recommend that each student secure a professional evaluation of their physical condition before enrollment.
Financial Responsibility For Medical Treatment:
Payment for all medical care, first aid and related charges, if needed, will be the sole responsibility for the sponsoring corporation, business, organization or individual.
Fees paid for courses do not include meals or lodging. Tuition must be paid prior to or on the first day of class unless your company has made other arrangements for payment. Prices for individual courses are subject to change without notice.
There may be cases where the desired course does not have the minimum number of attendees in order to hold the course. In such cases the course will be cancelled.
Level 1 (consists of)
- Full – length pants are required
- Short sleeves are allowed but sleeveless shirts are prohibited
- Closed – toed shoes are required
